TAX MODIFICATIONS
Prior to the implementation of GST, sellers registered under VAT were assigned a TIN number and service providers were mandated to register for a service tax number by the Central Board of Excise and Custom (CBEC). Effective from 1st July 2017, a single platform known as GST has been introduced to collect and pay taxes. All eCommerce businesses irrespective of their turnover are required to register and be compliant under the GST. Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN), a 15-digit long alphanumeric value comprising the State Code, PAN Card, and business vertical details will have to be provided while collecting or paying taxes.
